Hm.  It sounds rather complex for a simple Perl module turned into a
*.deb by dh-make-perl...

  I usually have a --upstream--0 branch into which I commit upstream
stuff, and from which I fork --upstream-releases--x.y tags/branches;
and a --sid--0 branch for my packages.
