gconf settings

Hello all,

I sent the following message to Alexander Sack, the Thunderbird
maintainer, who asked me to forward it here as it may have multiple
answers and broader appeal:

We (Linspire) are working with mozDev to create some custom builds of
Firefox and Thunderbird. One problem MozDev hasn't solved yet is
enabling the reading of certain system prefs - namely the gconf settings
for mailto and http handlers in Firefox and Thunderbird respectively. I
noticed that Debian's builds have this working properly, yet I didn't
notice any special config options being passed or any settings being
changed in any of your patches that seems to have caused this. Can you
shed some light on this?
