Can you gentlemen point me in the right direction?

Hi Guys,

I'll start by declaring that I'm very new to the whole IT game, so, I beg
for your patience with my "dumb" questions :-)

I've been searching the web for information on the reason why Iceweasel
differs from Firefox. So far I've had no success. Most of the sites I've
come across tend to be forums that degenerate into trolling and abuse
sessions - which of course, provides me with no useful information.

I'm aware of the branding situation - this appears to have been well
documented.

If, for example, I unpack and examine [firefox-17.0.tar.bz2], I notice that
it is quite sparse when compared to the standard [Iceweasel-17.0] install,
via [aptitude install Iceweasel], which also installs [xulrunner-17.0], &
[libmozjs17d]. Iceweasel installs have always included [xulrunner] since I
started using Debian (circa 2006).

My questions are not for reasons to troll or to criticise - as I can never
see any useful purpose in such exercises - but simply, curiosity. It seems
to me, there must be a good reason. Iceweasel appears to be feature rich
(xulrunner ?) compared to the equivalent version, standard Firefox
install. Does this allow one to do more things - perhaps in the areas of
development?

Can you gentlemen point me in the right direction?

I'll add that I'd offer to contribute to the project, however, I'm still
far too ignorant at this stage.

Cheerio again,
Brian.

P.S: You do a great job.
