Hello Friends,
Glad to see such mailing list.Let me introduce myself.
I am 'Srikant Patnaik' from Mumbai,India.I am working at
IITB<http://www.iitb.ac.in/>in
FOSSEE <http://fossee.in/> Project.
Our govt. has introduced a project similiar to OLPC(One Laptop per Child)
and we need to convince them to go for open source OS.The project is '
sakshat <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sakshat>'.(link<http://www.sakshat.ac.in/>
)
The sad part is that we don't have actual hardware in our hands so that we
can install debian over it and show ministry people its limitless
possibilities.
So to prove our point we are trying with two Nokia N900 one with 'Android' &
other with 'Debian with e17'. We think that android environment is not open
completely
and ofcourse its not a learning platform. We are also facing problems with
Licensing with Google.
So coming to my point. We already ported 'NITDroid' on one of N900.On second
device we are trying Debian.
We have done all the steps properly as described in site
https://elektranox.org/n900/index.html but no luck.We have tried both Manual
& Tarball installation.
In tarball we didn't get any log messages and screen freezes with message "
Booting from debian (mmcblk0p1 ext3)..."
In Manual Installation after getting screen freeze with same above message
we checked the /var/log and got 'xorg.0.log'(attached) file which says
"Could not open '/dev/fb0': No such file or directory".
Any suggestion will be helpful. We are very desperate because we have to show
it before Friday.
Thanks & Regards,
Srikant Patnaik
