you would need to either reverse engineer the NX protocol and
clean-room implement it and release that implementation under the MIT/X
or BSD-type license.  Or convince NoMachine to relicense their
implementation (I doubt they will).

The fact is that NX is already a patch to X.org.  It is just not going
to be accepted by the X.org folks with a license like GPL2-only.

I think Alex already made this clear.
