| I do not see any difference between 4.2.2 and current cvs versions.

| 2-d plotting (note there is no z2tics) and splot is a 3-d plot.
OK. Can we use plot instead of splot in this case? If not, then I
think there is no way to make this feature work properly with the
gnuplot backend unless gnuplot itself is fixed.
