I successfully recompiled the following packages against octave_3.8.0-2:

   libsbml5-octave
   octave-biosig
   octave-gdf
   octave-gmt
   octave-lhapdf
   octave-nlopt
   octave-pfstools
   octave-psychtoolbox-3
   octave-sundials
   octave-vlfeat
   sdpam

Whether they will work correctly with 3.8, I do not know.

Recompilation of package octave-plplot failed.
