Before uploading I'd like to get the issue with alternatives fixed. The
problem I have is that update-alternatives does not create the (slave)
link to mpiexec for an unknown reason. The problem was reported by
Gennaro and can I can reproduce it.

I tried to fix it but I didn't succeed so far and even after reading the
alternatives documentation multiple times I have no idea why it isn't
working. Any help on that is very welcome!

With this issue and LAM/MPI installed, you end up with an OpenMPI mpirun
and an LAM/MPI mpiexec when you want to switch from OpenMPI to LAM. (We
agreed to set a lower priority to OpenMPI in alternatives.) If things
get mixed like that, OpenMPI is IMHO not useable from a user's point of
view.

He didn't reply to my mails yet.
