I believe the way I repack orig tar its the right way to do it. Please
remember that we will have to convince ftp-masters as well. Generally
speaking it is better to be safe than sorry. I'm not really that interested
to discuss DFSG repacking... Nothing that is being removed is even remotely
needed.

True. :)
Funny enough I've never used "svn-buildpackage" and my attempts to use "git-
buildpackage" ended up with much disappointment about more sophisticated
workflow and no benefits in regards to time saving. Call me old-fashioned but
I just extract orig tar, add "debian" directory on top and build with
whatever tool I choose. I could never understand how that simple process
could benefit from frontends like GBP...
