[php-maint] About the PDO module for php5 (#348882)

Dear Adam, others,

I would like to offer my help in implementing this extension, since my 
customers have asked about my supporting it. I would, however, rather have 
this in an official Debian package.

In the changelog of php5-5.1.1-1 you wrote:

    * Intentionally disable PDO support until I've sorted out the best way to
      deal with shipping this shiny new feature that won't break the world.

What concerns do you have about PDO breaking things?
