[php-maint] problem php5-gd

hello! i have problem in debian 5 lenny. i install lastet version
drupal - and drupal says:

GD library rotate and desaturate effects 2.0 or higher

The GD Library for PHP is enabled, but was compiled without support
for functions used by the rotate and desaturate effects. It was
probably compiled using the official GD libraries from
http://www.libgd.org instead of the GD library bundled with PHP. You
should recompile PHP --with-gd using the bundled GD library.

such problems are observed only php5-5.2.6.dfsg.1-1+lenny10 . but if
install php from http://www.dotdeb.org/instructions/  for lenny php
5.2.17 - i have no problem with drupal
Can you solve this problem ?
may be a matter not to you  -  drupal says :
Upload progressNot enabled

Your server is capable of displaying file upload progress, but does
not have the required libraries. It is recommended to install the PECL
uploadprogress library (preferred)

but if i install php from http://www.dotdeb.org/instructions/  for
lenny php 5.2.17  -  drupal does not swear "
Upload progressNot enabled"  and i have  no problem for this.  may be
need to include this library in php5-5.2.6.dfsg.1-1+lenny10  or to
upgrade php to lenny to php 5.2.17 - would be very good :)
