Thank you all for volunteering for this.

Let me set out what my current plans are for the postgresql package.

The current unstable version is 7.3.4-7. I don't really expect to do
anything more to this unless some horrid bug shows up. I haven't put
this version under CVS.

The version I'm actively working on is 7.4beta4, currently in
experimental as 7.3.99.7.4beta4-3. This version is in CVS, plus some
very recent changes which have not yet been uploaded as a package.

The most recent changes are fixes to the installation, which have
finally solved a nasty bug which killed the preinst when there were
missing configuration files, and the beginnings of internationalising
debconf. So far there is only a Japanese translation (at least I hope
it's a translation, but it's all Japanese to me!) This release will
also drop libpqpp and libpqpp-dev which are for the obsolete C++
interface, and the python packages, since PyGreSQL is now separated
upstream and I have a volunteer to take them over.

What I would like would be to get a lot of the bug list cleared. If
anyone intends to tackle a bug, please announce it here. Perhaps we
should copy bugs to the Alioth tracker system, to make it easy to see
who is dealing with what. It would be a good idea to send a message to
xxx-maintonly@bugs.debian.org as well so that there is a record on bug
xxx to say that it is in the system.

Please feel free to voice your own wishes for the package.
