Hi guys!
Since the RC bug is now open for a while, I guess I have to take the
time to go and fix it :-) But when I'm at it, I would like to simplify
the maintainer scripts, as possible.
Would anybody object to cleaning up the postinst/config scripts a bit to
get rid of obsolete stuff? Things that I found:
- convert_old_conf() (and in turn pgconf_add() and pmconf_add() and
the respective debconf questions) are not really needed any more
since woody already does the necessary conversion and Debian does
not support leaving out stable releases during upgrades anyway.
- postinst, lines 276 ff. and line 536 check whether config files
/etc/postgresql/postgresql.conf and others exist. What is the point
in doing that? The psql debs currently ship these files in /etc/
(which must be changed to use ucf, BTW), so is there any sane
possibility that these files are not present?
I will learn ucf and try to implement it in the next days and send a
proposed patch to the list. But before I would like to settle these
things, since they would ease the job.
Thanks and have a nice weekend!
Martin
