As Gerfried pointed out, it may stay around, but it is currently not
necessarily guaranteed to work.

I know it's not Debian, and perhaps it's completely orthogonal, but I'm
currently suspecting the poster of [1] ran into that problem somehow.
Maybe you know better advices for him than I did.
