No, I don't think that people will use it explicitly for checking though
it is a library, and so who knows? There are two things though. one the
suprise that may happen if the changelog passed by changelog.py is
rejected by something else. The second is the fact that you can create
changelogs, and currently it is the API user who specifies the date
string, and so it could allow someone to create an invalid changelog.

Note that it would probably just have been easier if I had just given
you the revnos on that branch, but I'm trying out talking in revision
ids for now.

No problem, let me know if there is anything else, or if you would like
the write_to_file method that doesn't need an open file, just a
filename, but some discussion of semantics would be needed in my
opinion.
