I will track the project from git for now. I am afraid of applying to
one more thing for the time being :)
I saw you started integrating my patches - please note that the
NOSSE/SSE1/SSE2 support on 32 bits arch requires some new arch
defaults (the upstream arch default would fail with the first patch).

Which ABI changes ? A package built against 3.6.20 should run against
3.8.3, normally.
I was also wondering about the -dev -> -dbg renaming: what's the
rationale ? isn't dbg reserved for debug packages ?
