I do not know. I am not aware of any patches originating from the Debian
team, so it is quite likely that they are not present in the upstream
sources, or that the underlying concerns may have been addressed in other
ways.

I don't know. Someone will have to try it and find out. I cannot do it.

Because I thought that it might help you or others to do a quick check to
confirm whether or not the compiled VM works on Debian for Etoys.

If you are able to confirm that the upstream sources work on the latest Debian,
and also that Etoys works properly with that VM, then I am sure we can arrange
an official release on the Squeak side to support the Debian efforts.
