To follow up here, I not only managed to easily build the with the provided snapshot/script,
but also it just works starting up. (screenshot attached).

@David: I had just forgotten a step in my setup; yes everything works neatly.

Also, everybody feel free to contact me for things debian+squeak or debian+etoys, I'll try to help
in any way I can.
