The installation transition from TeTeX 3 in Sid to TeXLive was painless.
I only rebuilt 3 main packages. Kile/Kilei18n/Scalable-Cyrfonts-tex
with ``| texlive-latex-recommended''.

Notes: Instructions were clear on augmenting the control file per
package. You might want to show a sample comparison to eliminate any
confusion for those who've never packaged their own debs.

Now onto using TeXLive.

Write permissions to /var/cache/fonts... fail with the owner/group set
up by default. If one changes owner:group to include a group the user
belongs to then it will work itself out.

drwxrwxr-x 20 root www-data

As far as security issues, I'm surprised the font creation doesn't run
sudo and thus allow only sudo users to have write permissions to
/var/cache/.

The subsequent font directory created gives the user:user user/group
ownership and 777 permissions.

drwxrwxrwt with sticky bit turned on.

Unless these owner:group permissions are done in the install scripts it
can't be completely ready for Sid, or perhaps I'm too picky?
