[Pkg-virtualbox-devel] Two Virtualbox Problems?

I'm running the backports version on Etch.

I'm using an AMD64 kernel running on i386 Debian install. (This is
because I'm running binaries that require a i386 userspace install).
The AMD64 kernel module installs and modprobes, but when I run
VirtualBox I get "The VirtualBox support driver which is running is from
a different version of VirtualBox. You can correct this by stopping all
running instances of VirtualBox and reinstalling the software."

If I use a i686 kernel on the same box it works fine, or if I use a K7
kernel (on another box)... it's just AMD64 kernel (on i386 userspace)
that's the problem.

I also have the opposite problem to the VirtualBox bug ticket #731 :
http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/731 . ie. VirtualBox expects ABI major
version 2,
and not 1 (as is running on the Etch "server" ). I guess this problem
would be specific
to backports.

ps. I haven't tested AMD64 kernel on AMD64 userspace yet, but I'd
presume that would work.
