You are right. But I'm playing with an idea that might solve this issue.

What about an alternative init script for wpasupplicant that
reads /e/n/i, looks for wpa- stancase (or maybe guessnet stancas, to
avoid typing in stuff twice) and generates a wpasupplicant.conf file
from that. This way, all relevant information is in /e/n/i, and we can
still have over beloved "ifplugd+wpasupplicant+guessnet" setup.
