I'd rather ask you to somehow add a check to ifupdown.sh, that is, for
some weird reason, some wpasupplicant is already handling the device, to
be a no-op. This might help other setups, too, so I think that's a good
idea anyways.

Both would be fine, I think. But I'm not sure if I currently can bring
up the time to maintain such a thing myself. Maybe someone else is
interested.
