It seems to me that the patches are for 0.4.8.

well, some of the patches makes wpa_supplicant work on some machines. So
in some cases, they might be useful or even required.

I remember something.. wait.
I think this would be this bug:

I'm a bit confused as well. Who wrote this patch? Who to contact him and
have they already been submitted/discussed upstream?
