I tried a clean user account, and found that the panel settings influence
the issue. To reproduce the issue, move the panel to the left edge of the
screen and increase the width to 64 pixels before adding the cpugraph
plugin. Further, I observed that if the cpugraph plugin is added before
increasing the panel width, but after moving the panel to the left edge of
the screen, the entire desktop locks up when the panel size is increased to
