I'm sorry -- I don't remember exactly when the problem started. I only
assembled this computer in early June, so the change would probably have
occurred between mid-June and mid-July.
Looking at the Debian changelogs in /usr/share/doc, gvfs hasn't been changed
since December, and libgnomevfs hasn't been changed since March.

I can mount the SMB share with the gvfs-mount command. When that is done,
Thunar can display the folder the usual way, without problem. Presumably
Thunar is unable to mount the folder, or determine if it should be mounted?
