Sure. I mostly mentioned it because any security issues would have a
wide impact. If we drop the package and then a security issue come
along, a lot of people using older Debian version will be affected.

As far as I know there is nothing wrong with it, but the upstream site
is gone and there seem to be no-one maintaining it. So the free
software community have no focal point to share patches and issues,
which is worrysome to me. Not a big worry, but definitely something to
keep in mind.
