There's nothing more to see; applesmc needs to be properly made aware
of the MacBook Air :)

It can be named pretty much anything :) Or maybe it doesn't exist at
all on this hardware, it all depends how the Apple HW engineers
decided to use the hardware.

You can try to find out by plugging the headphones and adjusting
levels in the mixer. If the element you identified for the speakers
changes the headphones level too (and it's not the PCM or Master
element which are special), then the same mixer element controls both
outputs at the same time and there's a bit of hardware doing the level
adaptation for the headphones.

Also see if muting the mixer element mutes the headphones.

Pommed will run if it has only one working mixer element, either
headphones or speakers.
