[py3porters-devel] Pylons and snapshot.debian.org

I created a subpage on the wiki for this project: https://wiki.debian.org/Python/Python3Port/SnapshotToFlask

There's one outstanding question which is whether we port the templates to Jinja2 (Flask's default) or stick with Mako through a Flask extension. I outlined what I think are the pros and cons on the wiki, but last night I spent a bit of time porting the front page of the app (mostly static) and I think I convinced myself that Jinja2 is the right decision. There's work to be done in the templates either way because of differences in how Pylons and Flask expose data to the template context, and the syntax is close enough that it's not really extra work to translate from Mako to Jinja2 while you're at it. So I think it's worth one fewer dependency, but I'm open to discussion if anyone else cares to weigh in.

If we're good with Jinja2, I'll push my work up to the origin and then I think we can start porting in earnest.

At this point we have a rough plan, but I think we have a few more decisions to make before we can start really slogging forward. Once we lay the groundwork, I think this is the kind of project that will probably scale out pretty easily to multiple volunteers.
