you had doubts about what caused to select the BPO list, so not so obvious?

no surprise then that it repotbug didnt act as you wanted.

So I think it would be obvious as well to check the manpage/--help to
look for options that might do what you want?

  -V PKGVERSION, --package-version=PKGVERSION
                        specify the version number for the package
