imho there are several advocacy test in the shooutout. they show-off the 
strengths of those languages that are strong on

string handling
line oriented i/o
array access
objects
unsafe integer arithmetic
etc

however, since they are already there i find it more constructive to 
design new tests that advocate other properties of languges.
