I think "Least Common Denominator benchmark" is a perfectly good name
for a default Shootout scoring system. Such a name would offset its
elevated status as the default. And, it's an accurate name. It
embodies the design goal of testing all languages on a level playing
field.

A PHB might peruse the Shootout and find:

- the Least Common Denominator benchmark
- the Garbage Collection benchmark
- the Concurrency benchmark

Then she might select the one most appropriate to her project. Or if
she can't figure that out, her lead programmer might set her straight on
it.

Cheers, www.indiegamedesign.com
