hi all,

i don't understand why all programming languages and implementations cannot be
given equal chance? surely it is possible for a 'shootout' to be almost
entirely driven by the community rather than the site administrators?

i can imagine an automated system whereby proponents of, say, felix, can provide:
  - an install.sh for the compiler/interpreter
  - a run.sh to run each benchmark
  - and a tarball with benchmark code

i would be happy to provide the facility to do the crunching:
  - linux pc
  - serving ftp for upload of install.sh, run.sh and tarball
  - running the benchmarks for each submission
  - publishing results.csv for anyone to peruse/re-publish in pretty html

but i'm probably missing some reason why it can't be automated, or am i?

cheers,

jack
