so we have the following:

'?' is used in rhetorical questions: Aaron Denney, Alan Post
'?' is not used in rhetorical questions: Isaac Gouy

this list is probably not frequented by english majors (please come to 
the rescue if you are here :-), so this not a conclusive proof of anything.

however, it does seem as if many people will use a '?' on a rhetorical 
question. and that Isaac Gouy will not.


imho, the best advice came from the kind person that suggested avoiding 
these kind of arguments since they are easily misunderstod in a 
non-verbal exchange.
