Here are some notes that I took during our chat:
- Steve liked what we are doing \o/
- there are things simple-cdd does that debian-cd probably will never
do, like preseeding, so debian-cd will never entirely replace
simple-cdd even if in the future it will gain the possibility of
building from remote repositories
- we could use sha256sum files as MANIFESTs for downloads of doc/ and
tools/ over HTTP; however, there are no checksum files for those
directories in the mirrors. I went to report it, and found #752134
already reported by Vagrant
- I asked if there is a documentation of all debian-cd environment
variables: there is in the toplevel conf.sh, except for a couple of
minor variables that are developer-only things. If descriptions are
not clear, or something else should be documented, Steve asked to let
him know and he'll take care of it.
- I wondered about dependency resolution and hwo come we get
console-setup-freebsd in the local mirror, which then edos-debcheck
complains about. Turns out the way we resolve dependencies is pretty
good, and console-setup-freebsd should just not be on amd64. #619328
tracks this, but it's tagged wontfix. If it's just for that package
we can implement a per-distro, per-arch blacklist, or alternatively
just ignore the warning.
