[Splashy-devel] splashy initramfs support

Hello all,

This is just to advise you that splashy now has initramfs support. It
took me 2 hours to get it working! (I was thinking initramfs was more
difficult).

Adding splashy to your initrd images adds ~ 1.2mb of data to it. But
the boot process is flawless.

I had to work around the lack of .fifo file in a read-only disk. I did
this by letting splashy (main thread) sleep extra 10 seconds in the
main loop, and sending a kill -9 signal once the system goes into
whatever runlevel and it reaches /etc/rcS.d/S02splashy-init. The
effect is a minor flicker of splashy and the progress bar works
automatically. I believe this is a very small price to pay!

Enjoy.

p.s. packages are in "unstable" in our Alioth repository. 0.1.8.svn3
version. They were compiled on Ubuntu Dapper, let me know if this
causes any issues. Ah, and if you press F2 you will get some text
flying by. This is a test I'm working on. So, don't press F2 for now
;-) Use ESC.
