[Splashy-users] Compiling without static libs

Hi,
I'm using Slackware 12.0 and want to compile splashy 0.3.5 but after already installing
directfb with static libs i still get these two errors:
gcc: /usr/lib/libfreetype.a: No such file or directory
gcc: /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.a: No such file or directory
These static libs are not included in Slackware-packages (and there is nothing like -devs)
so is there an easy way to build splashy without compiling glib and freetype?
Anyway, is it possible to change the sources so no .a-libs are needed anymore? According
to the forum
http://alioth.debian.org/forum/forum.php?thread_id=2672&forum_id=1581
http://alioth.debian.org/forum/forum.php?thread_id=2762&forum_id=1581
and this
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/splashy-users/2006-April/000164.html
i'm not the only one who has this problem.
Thanks, and NO i do not want to use precompiled binaries :$)
