[Splashy-users] splashy v3.3 on Ubuntu Feisty Fawn - progress bar not working

Hello splashy users and developers,
I'm trying to get splashy working on Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn.

Two things I can't get done:
1) progress bar not working;
2) "splashy test" fails with
Splashy ERROR: Couldn't splashy_start_splashy(). Error -2
and leaves crash dump in /var/crash

I see no apparent error messages on console or /var/log/*

Here's my setup:

1. removed usplash
sudo dpkg -r usplash-theme-ubuntu usplash libusplash0 ubuntu-desktop

2. built and installed splashy packages from v3.3 sources
sudo dpkg -i libsplashy1_0.3.3_i386.deb splashy_0.3.3_i386.deb \
 libsplashy1-dev_0.3.3_i386.deb

3. changed /etc/default/splashy line
ENABLE_INITRAMFS=0 to ENABLE_INITRAMFS=1

4. regenerated initrd
sudo update-initramfs -u

5. set ubuntusplashy theme
sudo splashy_config -s ubuntusplashy
 >Set theme as: ubuntusplashy          [ DONE ]

6. added vga=791 to grub kernel boot line

7. added splashy to runlevels with sysv-rc-conf
