Hello,
I was working on this very issue last month. I got all that stuff committed
to SVN. If you get the sources from the repository and compile a debian
package, you will be able to run Splashy after making sure that you change
/etc/default/splashy and point the STEPS directory to /dev/shm (the tmpfs
that Ubuntu and all other Linux distros mount r/w during boot).
Perhaps is time to release a minor release that addresses these issues.
I'll make sure Splashy is ready for Gutsy, before this is released ;-)
