[Vmdebootstrap-devel] Kernel update

Hi!
To me it seems unlikely that the problem is lack of space on /boot. As I said I have over 100 MB of free space on /boot. When making the image I increased the value in the script manually. The linux-image (kernel) in /var/cache/apt/archives/ is about 24 MB in size. Indeed a search around with ncdu shows there seem to be no files much larger than this anywhere on the system.
I'm trying to update as root. I haven't a clue what's causing the error. If debian kernel updates on BBBs usually proceed with no problems the last resort is making a new vmdebootstrap disk image. But before doing that I want to exhaust all other reasonably likely possibilities for the error.
