ew. that should definitely not happen. it seems like the code is being
overly zealous in checking variables. could you please report this
via the BTS?

it shouldn't fail at all, if the admin selects "no" to the automagic
assistance. something else to consider is what if they answer "yes"
but don't see the following question about database type. iirc the
packager can provide a default answer, but i don't know that there
will be one if they don't.
