Hmm. Well, you're in good company. Our own Glenn Saberton reported
the same thing. He applied the workaround, yet it does not work for
him on his 4G.
To both of you, I would recommend you just blacklist thermal for now.
This is not without its problems. In addition to not benefitting from
the critical shutdown code, you will also not be able to read the
temperature. But Damyan reported earlier on irc that when he had
blacklisted thermal and subsequently loaded it after booting without
it, the thermal module then worked properly. So maybe it's some
strange interaction between acpi and thermal at boot time?
To blacklist thermal, do the following:
echo "blacklist thermal" >>/etc/modprobe.d/local
