Actually, nothing seems convincing to me, except maybe the change for Afghanistan

The Republic of AF is probably no longer "Transitional" since the
Talibans have been thrown away...and until they unfortunately come back...:-|

Well, all other kingdoms are named "Kingdom of...." so that would be
inconsistent, imho.

Here, I'm not really convinced as well. What does Wikipedia say ?

Well, unsure also. here *most* "Republic" countries use "Republic of
foo" but some other use "Fooic republic" (Argentina, Centrafrique,
Czech, Dominican, *French*...:-)). So unless another source confirms
that Italy prefers "Republicca d'Italia" over "Republicca italiana", I
suggest we don't change this.
