MediaWiki is ridiculously overoptimised toward MySQL. This sucks in
many ways, but it's also true.

The impression I'm getting is that your primary interest in MediaWiki
is as a component in FusionForge, not e.g. for someone who thinks "I'd
like a wiki, MediaWiki would be nice, oh it's in Debian, I'll use
that."

The limited view of knowing the application?

This sort of thing is why Debian's package is perceived as too weird
to support, and what we're trying to fix here.
