I agree that, in your particular circumstances, upgrading to 1.19 isn't
the best course of action.

What I would like to do, though, is make sure the new 1.19 package
upgrade is seamless.  My idea of having a packaged MediaWiki
installation is that it would eliminate (as much as possible) the manual
work.

I completely understand.  Still, I'd like to find a way that we could
easily communicate and share common solutions to packaging problems that
come up and the MediaWiki developers would be more likely to address any
issues that packagers face.

Would you be willing to join a mailing list that consists entirely of
package maintainers from different distributions?
