"verwandt" and "verwendet" are both the "Partizip II" of "verwenden" and 
can be use here. So Helge is right.
But "verwandt" could be misunderstood, because it's other meaning is 
according relationship. At least it will interrupt the readers flow, 
IMO.

So I would prefer "verwendet" here.
