Unfortunately, register_globals may be in use in other things not in the
archive. I'm thinking namely about OSCommerce, which famously uses
antediluvian setups, but that's not the only one. And I'm not even
scratching the itches of the (often very lame) scripts from my customers.

So, yes, register_globals is a bad thing, but no, it's not a good thing
to have it totally removed: it's going to be a painful migration!
