Depends what you need. Only the latex format without any thrills, then
texlive-latex-base, if you need special packages, maybe
texlive-latex-recommended and texlive-latex-base, or/and
texlive-fonts-recommended. If you tell me what you need, I will check
this for you.

Not till now, and I would say that this is difficult, because it depends
on which packages you need for processing the documents. With tetex it
is easy because you get most packages in one bunch tetex-base, with
texlive you have many more packages, but they are split into different
debs.
